Welcome

To the website of Les Papillons.

We, that is Daniel and Sanne, at one point in our lives decided that we wanted a different life, in a different place, away from traffic jams, away from hurrying from one place to another, away from grey weather. We wanted an adventure, nature and space.

So we went on a quest that lead us slowly but certainly to the house ‘Les Papillons’, which translates as ‘The butterflies’. It's all the way to the south of France just at the foot of the Pyrenees in a little 'hameau' called Embarou near the lovely medieval town Mirepoix, in the department Ariege.

The first years we have been renovating, renovating and rebuilding, to get our house in a livable state. When the kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom was finished we moved in and went on renovating until it was 'finished' (is an old house ever finished??).

This website was made in the very beginning, for family and friends to follow our progress, mistakes and happiness during rebuilding. Since then it has been changed, updated, and renewed about a hundred times until we had our first baby, in 2008. Then, suddenly, there was a lot more important to do than keeping this website up to date...

Now, already another baby further, we decided to update our website once more, although there'll be less to see of the house, more of the baby's...
